(VIDEO) Celebrating 150 Years In Residential Real Estate- And my 20th Anniversary, too.

It’s crazy that January 2003 is already twenty years ago.

I came to New York City on July 4th of 2002, with $6000 borrowed from my mom.  I am grateful that I had a mother who believed in me when I didn’t know what I was going to do with the rest of my life- and didn’t exactly believe in myself.  For a few months, I flopped around, and nearly gave up, tucked tail, and left.  But with some advice from my stepmother (lucky guy- multiple parents who could see things in me I didn’t see!), I decided to take a shot as a rental agent in January of 2003.

This month, I celebrate twenty years in this business.  I share lots of stories about what I’ve seen all month long on LinkedIn, in case you’re not following me there (here’s the link to correct that error!).

I’ve seen three market cycles, and enjoy sharing what I’m seeing in real time with you.  I’ve been writing about the market for more than 14 years.  Bananas!  Old is new again, and the new is always fun to learn.

But coincidentally, Brown Harris Stevens just celebrated its 150th year in business.

Now that’s a lot of market cycles.

You can see photos from the party here if you like.  But if you want learn about the company that started before the Brooklyn Bridge was built, here’s the video:

Colonel Duncan Harris (no relation, I promise you!) rebranded the firm Brown Harris Stevens in 1938, and I’d like to think that the company has never been the same…

It’s an honor to work here- I am surrounded my a terrific team, and among the best agents in the business across our entire firm.  If you’re looking for the best in the business, look no further.

We did $238mm in business in the two years post-COVID.  We can’t wait to help you, too! -S
