Apartment Entertaining, Clutter-Free

Courtesy of organization guru, Maeve Richmond of Get Your House In Order, I present some tips for entertaining this Holiday Season.

Don’t pull your hair out, folks!

There has to be a better way!

With a little planning, your holiday party can be enjoyable and stress-free. Try these simple party-planning tips:

Prepare in Advance: Choose appetizers and dishes that you can prepare a day in advance. Cooking and tending to the oven while guests arrive can be stressful. Limit day-of prep to ‘heat and serve’ and enjoy the extra time chatting with family and friends.

Bite-Sized Food: Small bite food eliminates the need for a formal dining setup, uses fewer dishes and less table space. Trays of food can be scattered around your home allowing people to circulate rather than to jam up at one table.
Set the Mood Mood makes or breaks an event. Set candles and create a relaxing atmosphere. Break out your special plates and play quiet music as a backdrop to lively conversation.
Pillows & Chairs: Use floor pillows to increase seating space and create a fun, whimsical environment. Lean them against walls, your couch or sturdy chairs. Have plates or linen napkins on hand to encourage guests to bring their food to the floor.
